Blair County Jr. Livestock Show and Sale: The three best days of the year!
August 16-18, 2026
The Shows:
Sunday August 16th, 5PM Market Rabbits
Monday August 17th, 9AM Market Goats, 1PM Dairy Beef, 4PM Market Lambs
Tuesday August 18th, 9AM Market Hogs, 12PM Market Steers
This is an opportunity for the youth members to showcase the learning and work that has gone into raising a livestock project animal. The satisfaction and pride in a job well done is evident on the faces of these young men and women when the judge shakes their hand and congratulates them on having the prize winning animal! And the resolute determination to try harder, learn more, practice longer and ask more questions is seen on the ones who were not so lucky this time around.
You will be amazed at the level of competence, professionalism and sportsmanship as these kids show off an entire year’s work and learning! Stop by and chat with the young people hanging around the barns, or working with their animals. The atmosphere is magnetic, you will want to be a part of this!
The Sale: Where all the hard work pays off!
Tuesday August 18th, 4PM at the Morrison’s Cove Memorial Park Barns
One at at time, members enter the sale ring, present their animal to the crowd, and smile hopefully as the auctioneer begins calling out bids. With the generosity of the buyers and a little luck, the member will receive a good price for their animal. They will be able to pay expenses for this year, save enough to purchase next year’s animal and hopefully have a little something to put in the college fund!
Congratulations to the Grand and Reserve Champion winners at the 2025 Show!
Do I have to take the animal home?
If you purchase an animal, you have several options after the bidding is over.
Select a local butcher to process your animal for you and pay the full price you bid.
Select the “Buy Back” option where you only pay the price above the listed “fair market value” and don’t actually take possession of the animal.
Choose to take the animal home and pay the full price you bid.
Choose to donate the animal to the Central Pa Food Bank; you will pay the full price you bid.
